My 4 Point WW Daily Go-to!
This little sandwich maker initially caught my eye because it’s small, red and cute. Little did I know, it would become something I use daily! As someone who doesn’t even leave the toaster out on my counter, it’s a big deal when I say I never put this away. It has definitely earned its place on my kitchen island. This purchase coincidentally coincided with starting Weight Watchers. I’m in love with the 4 point sandwich I make every morning! It consists of a whole wheat English muffin (2 pts), 1 egg (0 pts) and a piece of “light” string cheese (2 pts). I’ve perfected the timing to 3 min and 25 seconds. Very filling and fun to make! The clean-up (after it cools down) consists of wiping it down with a wet paper towel, which takes about 5 seconds. As per the instructions, I sprayed it with a non-stick pan spray, but only the first time. and it never sticks. It’s so much fun to slide the handle over, open the top (carefully!) and see the beautiful, perfectly shaped little sandwich. I highly recommend!

This thing has changed the morning routine game, and is saving money in the long run. I will say the top does get hot so watch out for that when you open it up. Its small and the blue/ green color is cute sits next to my toaster. Ii let ir run fo a few minutes before i start the first sandwich buy it takes about 5 minutes to cook one sandwich (English muffin or croissant roll, sausage patty, ham, cheese and egg). Suuuper easy to clean a simple wipe with a soapy sponge or whatever you use and wala clean.

So good I have two!
About six months ago I purchased my first sandwich maker as an impulse buy. I’m a bit of a gadget guy so i succumbed to the impulse. My usual weekly routine was to stop by the McD’s on my way to work and buy a McMuffin with egg or sausage each day. The coffee comes with me from home, so its a single purchase stop.My first attempt at making a sausage sandwich at home was mediocre at best when compared to my drive through experience. The issues were;1. The muffin was too small and did not contain the egg and sausage properly.2. The egg stuck to the maker leaving a mess to clean up.3. The egg leaked a bit around the sliding plate making a small mess.4. The precooked sausage and Canadian bacon was not heated properly.5. The egg was tough from over cooking. After a bit of experimenting all the issues were solved and I have been enjoying breakfast sandwiches each morning, and know whats in them. Here is what I learned. The first problem of too small a muffin was solved by carefully selecting which brand you buy. From my experience, the cheaper the muffin, the smaller it is. You want a full size muffin that will fill the makers cooking chamber. Since I live down the street from a restaurant supply company, I buy my muffins there. They are full size and come in 10 packs. Surprisingly, they are cheaper per muffin than my local grocery store. The next problem was solved by giving the egg cooking chamber a spritz of cooking spray after preheating the maker. This means the sliding plate as well as the sides of the ring. I use an olive oil based spray I get at the local Wally World. No more sticking and torn eggs. The leaking was solved by first preheating the maker a little longer. I plug it in first and then go get my ingredients. The extra minute or two of preheat after the green light turns on makes a difference. Another thing that helped was the cooking spray. I apply it when the maker is hot. This seems to make a seal between the plate and ring. The sausage not being hot enough was solved by not using a frozen patty or bacon slice. I now keep the ingredients in the refrigerator so they are cold, but not frozen. This change eliminated the issue completely. Again I have found the best deal on the ingredients at my local restaurant supply, but the Wally World sometimes beats them. If you buy a big package, just take a weeks worth and put them a plastic bag in the refrigerator and keep the rest in the freezer. Finally the tough egg. This issue was a show stopper for me. I hate tough eggs and not solving the problem meant the maker was getting returned. It turns out the solution was rather simple. Preheat the maker a bit longer as mentioned earlier and shorten the cooking time to 3 minutes. The result is a perfect egg (for me) with the rest of the sandwich thoroughly heated.Clean up was a breeze after using the cooking spray. I remove the cooking rings and wipe down with a damp cloth or place in the dishwasher. The maker body gets a quick wipe down and that it.If you are a bit adventurous, try making lunch or dinner sandwiches by substituting the breakfast meat with corned beef or pastrami from the deli. In the egg chamber place a thin slice of onion and a bit of swiss cheese. After six months, I am thoroughly satisfied. In fact I have bought a second so I have one at home and one to take with me for my regular extended hotel stays required by my job. The cost savings was amazing. This product paid for itself after two weeks just in drive through savings.Good Job Hamilton Beach.Since my initial review, I have found one more trick to using this product. If you load the maker as recommended, you will have the cheese against the egg. This makes the egg want to slide around on the meat especially just after cooking. I now place the cheese between the bottom muffin and meat. Problem solved.Another tip for those using it in a hotel room or at work, I have found that Wally World sells small bags of pre diced onions, bell Peppers and jalapenos. I keep some in my hotel room fridge and instead of a plain egg, I will scramble and add some veggies. Either zap the veggies for a moment to defrost first or just not keep them in the freezer. To mix things up a bit, I have been using sour dough, wheat, and cinnamon raisin breads instead of English muffins. The rings make a great “cookie cutter” when pressed into the bread slice. After shaping the bread I spread a small amount of butter on the side of the bread contacting the heating surfaces. The result is a nice crunch! Try spreading a bit of pesto on the other side for a savory treat. Use little to no butter when using pesto otherwise it gets a bit soggy. My favorite is sour dough, pesto, havarti cheese, sliced roast beef, and shaved onions. Heavenly lunch/dinner sandwich!Have had a few questions on my comment regarding the size differences in english muffins. In my experience the ones I buy at a restaurant supply are larger and usually cost less per muffin than those I get at the grocery. To compare, I have uploaded a photo of each loaded into the maker. Note how differently they fill the cooking chamber. Hope this helps.Made an interesting discovery during my last trip to the restaurant supply for English muffins. Garlic flavored cooking spray. Another simple way to easily bring flavor to the sandwich maker. Made by Vegalene, it brings a lot of flavor to my more savory creations. It is available on Amazon if you search on the name. The price per can before shipping is identical to our local restaurant supply house.Another discovery which was obvious after thinking about it, was to vary the size of the egg. My local grocery stocks small through extra large eggs. Having tried them all, I vary between small and medium. Mostly to cut calories, but also have found the smaller the egg the shorter the cooking time.Did a bit of an experiment recently which I want to share. While at our local Wally World I noticed some real bacon bits. Not the hard crunchy imitation kind, but the real thing. Bought a bag and gave them a try this week. On the bottom muffin, I sprinkled on a layer before putting on the cheese. The egg and top muffin was as usual. The result was excellent! A great change from my usual turkey sausage patty. Also a lot easier than fitting in strips of bacon. Have also tried them on the slide plate prior to adding the egg. Used a medium egg because of space. The bacon cooks into the egg which is actually better from a structural standpoint. Also added about 30 seconds to the cook time for best results. Have found the bits at very reasonable large package price at the restaurant supply. Just break down the lot into smaller bags and freeze. Keep just enough in the fridge for daily use.Hello again, the sandwich makers are faithfully doing their jobs with no breakdowns or complaints after almost a year of use. I recently found myself with a bunch of bbq’d Italian sausages in the fridge. The idea arrived to cut them into rounds about 1/4 inch thick and use them in lunch and dinner sandwiches. They worked great!! Just layer them on the bottom muffin and sprinkle with some grated mozzarella cheese. For an extra kick, I threw in a few fresh basil leaves. Depending on your mood, the egg is optional. A real treat for a light dinner. One variation I really like is to first spread some spaghetti or pizza sauce on the lower muffin before adding the sausage and cheese. Cook for a bit longer to warm thoroughly before dropping the top muffin. The result reminds you of a meatball sandwich from the Italian deli.Good morning. Ended up last weekend with a couple of extra hamburger patties from Sundays BBQ. While packing for Mondays road trip for work, I decided to do a bit of an experiment by putting them in the cooler along with a few slices of onion. That night in the hotel I broke out the sandwich maker and warmed it up thoroughly. In the upper chamber went the hamburger patty. I hand form mine for the BBQ so it was smaller in diameter and about twice as thick. It fully fills the upper chamber nicely. About three minutes in I placed both parts of the muffin along with a folded slice of American cheese in the lower chamber. After around six minutes, the muffin was removed, separated and burger and onion installed. Excellent in room meal. Repeated again the next night by eliminating the muffin heating time and putting the assembled cold muffin, cheese, and heated meat into the heating chamber with the plate slid out. I actually liked it better this way, and seemed the overall time was shorter. An update on the hamburger post. One of my complaints has been that the outside of the muffin gets toasted excessively hard. Think I have found a way around this. After first thoroughly heating the machine, I split the muffin in half and reverse the slices so the cut sides form the top and bottom surfaces. They both then go into the bottom chamber minus any cheese. The meat goes into the top chamber and the lid closed. After about 1 to 2 minutes, or when you flip the meat, open the lid and lift the entire ring assembly out leaving the muffin exposed. Now flip the muffin over. You will see the surface that was resting on the heating plate is a toasty golden brown. Return the ring assembly and close the lid. After another 1 to 2 minutes, assemble your hamburger adding the cheese if desired. Note the bread is soft on the outside and toasted on the inside. An added benefit is that the moisture driven from the muffin during toasting is contained in the chamber making the muffin soft beyond the toasted surfaces.I think this is a technique that can be extended beyond hamburgers with a bit of experimentation. Will keep you posted. Was able to try this technique with some precooked Italian sausages for lunch today. Had a few left over from yesterday’s BBQ, so here is what I did. Starting with a hot sandwich maker, I split and reversed the muffin as previously described. In the top chamber, I layered in about a half a sausages worth of slices straight from the fridge. Next the maker was plugged in. About thetime the green light cam on, the sausage just began to sizzle. Then as described above I removed the entire ring assembly and flipped the toasted muffin also removing the upper muffin. After replacing the rings, a whole slice of provolone went on top of the sausages along with the un-toasted muffin. The lid would not close fully, but did after the cheese melted. Alter the green light turned on again, I opened the slide allowing the sausage, provolone, and top muffin to drop down. Heating for another minute or two resulted in a cheesy, sausage sandwich. The cheese melts down into the lower muffin tying the whole thing together. Next time I plan on adding some thin onion slices. Very hot and tastyDiscovered how to make a quick hot pastrami sandwich today. Using the removable rings like a cookie cutter, I cut two circles of rye bread from a single large slice. Placed them both in the bottom compartment and turned on the sandwich maker. When the green light came on, the bread rounds were flipped to toast the other side. The top compartment was loaded with a bunch of slices of pastrami and a slice of provolone. Once the meat was hot and cheese melted, the slide plate was opened and the rings removed. Placing the now toasted round on the top completed the assembly.Another variation on the breakfast sandwich without any meat. Using the previously described toasting method, the maker was loaded with an English muffin. After preheating and flipping the bread, two small eggs were placed in the upper compartment along with some garlic salt and a few dashes of hot sauce. Surprisingly they both fit and don’t overflow the space. Cooking time is a bit longer but the combination of egg, salt garlic and heat makes for a great sandwich. There are times when I want just an egg. I like mine as an omelette so I mix in some crumbled bacon and diced onions. They are tho ones previously described in this review. Normally I use two small eggs and they fill the upper chamber nicely. After about three minutes, just take out the rings by the handle and open the slide over your plate. Delicious! One comment on the durability of the device. In my experience it is good. Over a year of everyday use, and nothing has gone wrong. Even the nonstick coating is in good shape. Will keep you posted.Good morning! Did a bit of an experiment this morning. Having a bunch of thinly sliced pastrami in the fridge along with equally thin sliced onions, I tried a pastrami breakfast sandwich. In the bottom chamber went the lower muffin half, some thinly sliced onions and finally enough thin pastrami to fill up the remaining space. In the upper chamber went my usual egg, garlic salt, and muffin top. Three minutes later out came a bit of heaven. The egg was just a little bit soft bordering on runny. The soft egg with the hot pastrami was a tremendous combo and made me glad there was no cheese to get in the way of the flavor. This may become one of my regulars it was so good.A quick note on durability, it’s excellent. After almost daily use for a few years, it’s still going strong. There is a slight bit of wear of the nonstick coating where the slide plate contact the rings, but that’s it. Normally I wipe clean with a damp cloth and the rings into the dishwasher twice a week. When I thought that I had tried all possible combinations, another was found. A can of corned beef was opened in our house by accident a few days ago. It was one of the rectangular cans similarly sized to a Spam can. By slicing the corned beef lengthwise with a sharp knife, I ended up with three slices, just slightly larger than an English muffin. After trimming off the corners they fit perfectly in the Sandwich Maker. After thoroughly warming up the maker, a slice went into the bottom chamber and the whole English muffin went into the upper. In a few minutes, of sizzling one of the corned beef was nicely browned and crispy. Next the corned beef was flipped over and an egg went into the upper chamber after removing the now warmed muffin. By the time the egg was done, the other side of the corned beef was browned. Assembling the muffin, egg & corned beef made for a unique very tasty sandwich loaded with protein.Merry Christmas all. Our sandwich maker is turning three and still operates perfectly. Zero problems, zero complaints, and that’s with almost daily use. Will keep posting as discoveries are made.Good morning again! Over three years in and no problems whatsoever. Even the nonstick coating is perfect. Have changed up my technique a bit. Instead of the using the maker to toast the muffins, I let it cook the egg and sausage, and toast the muffin seprately. Starting with a cold maker, i put a frozen sausage patty in the bottom compartment and plug it in. At the same time i pop the muffin in the toaster. In around a minute, you hear the sausage sizzle. Flip it and crack an egg in the top compartment. About the time the toaster pops, the egg will be done. Open the slider and let the egg fall onto the sausage, then put them onto the muffin. Cheese optional. The crispy muffin is great. The overall time is really no longer than using the maker alone.Hello all. The sandwich makers are still going strong. I had expected that they would have failed by now considering their 2013 purchase. Still love the product and use it almost every day.Its July 2017 and the sandwitch maker is still going strong after being used almost every day. Nothing to complain about. It’s a month later and I made another twist to my technique. There are mornings, like Saturday’s that I want something more than just the sandwich. My favorite paring is hashbrowns. So is it possible to do hashbrowns in the Sandwich Maker and not dirty up a fry pan? Yes it is.So I start with a cold maker and load a pre-cooked sausage patty in the bottom compartment. In the upper goes mini tater tots, I use enough to just make one even layer. Plug it in and let the magic happen. When you hear the sausage sizzling, lift the lid and upper compartment, then flip the sausage and close it up. The potatos are ready for the lower compartment now so slide the plate and let them drop. You may have to do some rearranging with a fork to get one layer then slide the plate closed. Now crack the egg into the upper. You may or may not have to use cooking spray depending on your desires. Put the muffins in the toaster. About the time the muffin is done, the egg will be also. Now just assemble the sandwitch, put the potatoes on a plate and your done! The only things to clean beyond the sandwich maker is a plate and fork should you choose to use them.

Now just assemble the sandwitch, put the potatoes on a plate and your done! The only things to clean beyond the sandwich maker is a plate and fork should you choose to use them.

Easy to use; Easy to clean
I love this little gadget. I use it to make ham, egg, and cheese English muffins, and it works perfectly. I can fix a yummy breakfast sandwich in minutes. It is easy to use and clean up is quick and easy. This is a great item to buy for yourself or give as a gift.

Efficient and easy device to male your own healthy egg muffin.
This is a single purpose device to make an egg muffin sandwich or cook one egg. Easy to use. Easy to clean. It works wonderfully and makes an egg muffin in 4 to 5 minutes, depending on hard you want the yoke to be. I use it every morning to make an egg, sausage or bacon and cheese muffin for breakfast. You can add what you want to your muffin sandwich such as mushrooms, peppers, potatoes, spinach, onion or whatever cooked items you want in your sandwich. I’ve used biscuits as well as English muffins but the device is more suited for muffins. The device gets very hot to the touch but there are plastic handles that are non-heat conductive to use to open and remove the muffin sandwich or your can wear oven gloves or mitts to remove the sandwich, if you prefer. These muffin sandwiches are larger than what you can buy at fast food restaurants and they are not cooked in oil or grease. If you want to add a slice of cheese add it to the sandwich after you remove the muffin from the device. It will melt nicely over the hot egg. If you cook the cheese with the muffin the cheese will liquify in the high heat and not be of much use. Great inexpensive device for those who love egg muffin sandwiches.

Just Buy It – You Will Use It More Than You Think!
This is easier and works better than you would think. Plug it in, gather your mise en place, by then the machine is preheated, place bottom of muffin with Canadian bacon, cheese, close add egg and top of muffin, 4 minutes later it’s done, wait 2 more minutes and it is WAY better than anything from a fast food restaurant. Just buy it, you won’t be sorry!

Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker
The Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker rocks! I’ve only had it a couple of weeks, and it took a few tries to get the hang of it, but now I just love it!Here’s what I do:First, I lower the first ring, and place just the bottom slice of the English muffin and a few thin slices of butter on top of the bread, followed by a slice of ham. Note: I don’t put any oil on the bottom plate!Next, I lower the second ring, with the moveable plate in place and I spray just a tiny bit of oil on the plate, which I gently spread around the plate and inside of the ring using a small piece of paper towel.I then plug the machine in, crack open an egg and drop it onto the middle plate, followed by a slice of cheese, which I use to move the yolk to the center if necessary, and close the lid, without applying pressure. After about 5 minutes, I look in the top section to see that the egg looks solidified and slide the middle plate out, letting the sandwich come together. I unplug the machine and let the sandwich cook another 30 – 60 seconds. Finally, I carefully flip the rings up and move the sandwich to a plate, letting it cool for a minute or two and adding a little mayo / honey mustard on whichever side can be peeled away….And voila! A delicious breakfast sandwich!Once cooled, clean up is easy, since the rings lift off the machine and can be sponge-cleaned (without abrasives) using just soap and water.

Does what it claims it does
This basically lets you throw pre cooked meats and veggies/cheese into a machine that will heat them up while cooking a raw egg and heating up the bread. The parts that you would expect to get dirty are removable and easily hand washable. The instructions recommend a squirt of cooking spray on each use. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t include a couple of recipe suggestions but there are plenty of those to be found online. To use, you plug it in until the green light comes on, just a couple minutes. In the lower tray toss the bottom of the english muffin or other bread (don’t forget a little butter on the bread), the precooked meat, cheese, veggies of choice etc. Next I put the shredded cheese directly into the raw egg along with some seasonings salt/pepper/onion powder whatever makes you happy. Make sure that the swinging plate is in proper full right position or your egg will leak out all over the place. It should be noted that they do not recommend store bought egg whites for some reason, so if you just want whites you need to make them yourself from a fresh egg. Drop the other half of the buttered muffin/bread on top of the egg and close it up. Recommended cook time is five minutes. I used a piece of Canadian bacon in the lower compartment, five minutes egg was cooked and everything else was hot, quite hot, slide the plate away and your sandwich drops together. It was so hot I had to give it a minute to cool off before I could pick it up and eat it. You could certainly accomplish the same thing this does with a little glass dish in the microwave and using the toaster on the bread but this is faster for sure and less mess to clean up too. Kids in the kitchen can be a nightmare, if you trust them with things that get hot this might be a way to battle a bit of mess from them making their own food. If you’ve never tried Knorr Aromat seasoning (sold on amazon) give it a try it’s for meats and eggs and even on buttered bread nice seasoning and no salt included if that’s important to you.

This is one kitchen gadget I will keep using
Now firmly in middle age I’m a staunch anti-gadget gal. One task gadgets better earn their place in my tiny kitchen or they’re banished to the basement cabinet forever. That cabinet is getting full so I try hard not to buy kitchen gadgets. I’m talkin’ to YOU air fryer! Not buying one I don’t care how many people rave about them they’re next years instant pot sitting lonely in a corner unused. I do love an egg & toast in the morning though and drive up can make me late as well too expensive for daily breakfasts. So I bought this egg sandwich maker.I really like it. I tried it with bread, biscuits and want to try with croissant and mini bagels in the future. I use whole egg and break the yolk. I crudely trim the bread to fit-a nice firm rye, whole wheat or sourdough works best but soft works too. I tried using very lightly buttered bread facing out and I prefer that way though it smells up the kitchen like fried food. Using dry bread is okay too but I like a thin smear of butter. Add a slice of cheese and ham if I have it and its a great cheap breakfast. Quick, too. I turn it on to preheat and cook the sandwich as I feed the dogs, then wrap in a pc of foil and get dressed for work. They’re pretty hot straight out of the machine so I like to wait a little while to eat it, some days I just eat it at work. One thing I don’t like is scrambling the egg, it comes out weirdly fluffy like a soufflé. I prefer my scrambled eggs softer and more curd-like if that makes sense and they’re not to my spoiled taste so I just do a whole egg w/a broken yolk so I don’t wear my yummy breakfast.Yes I could fry an egg on the stove in about the same time BUT this is so easy, no dish/pan to wash, just wipe the plates and its clean. Also its basically no effort, similar to making a pot of coffee imo. And I’m not paying over $3 for one egg, a pc of cheese and 2 pc bread. My cost is well under a dollar and its fresh and exactly the way I like it. Highly recommend this. One last thing-if anyone out there knows where to get a soft english muffin like mcds uses I’d be forever in your debt. Or a recipe. The english muffins in my area (Michigan) aren’t soft and squishy they’re tougher and chewier and I love them toasted to death but this egg sandwich maker only warms the outside obv doesn’t toast the inside. We have Thomas, Bays and have tried Wolfermans, I want that soft white bread style mcds uses.

This thing is so stupid. I love it.
Yes, of course this is an absurd one-off speciality kitchen appliance. Of course you don’t need it. Of course it’s just going to take up space on your counter. Of course you can just make a breakfast sandwich yourself using your stove. But to look at it strictly from this perspective completely glosses over how convenient this thing is. Is the convenience worth the embarrassment of not just manually assembling things? Of course it is.Let’s be honest here – the competition for this contraption is not you toasting your english muffin, poaching an egg, and frying up some sausage to assemble into a sandwich. The competition is not having breakfast. Or just running to McDonald’s because it’s so much simpler. So I’ll admit it – I’d frequent McD’s for a sausage mcmuffin with egg. I’d also frequently have an energy bar or a donut or some other basically junk breakfast. I have manually made egg sandwiches by cooking and assembling the ingredients, but that’s more of a special occasion thing – it just took too much time. Even if it was 5-10 minutes of cooking/assembling, it was time that I was _actively_ working on it. And I’m lazy/busy, so it was always a low priority. Even when I got the ingredients, I’d tend to do it once and then let the english muffins get moldy over the next few weeks as I didn’t do it again. Not to mention washing all the pans. But this thing changed everything – I’m literally making one of these every day for breakfast. And it’s delicious. I pick my own high grade eggs, good quality butter, the english muffins I like, a good cheese. it’s all fresh and it tastes way better than the fast food version. And it’s basically no effort – it’s a few minutes to pre-heat it (and you do other things during that), 30 seconds to assemble on the machine, 5 minutes to cook (again, do other things), a few minutes to cool (again, do other things), and you eat. It’s awesome. If you’re looking at this thing and reading this review, you’re debating it as well. I’m sure you’re doing the same mental gymnastics I did – it’s a waste of money, it’s a speciality item, I could just do it by hand, why would I bother buying this device when I know how to make eggs on the stove, etc. But the much more important question to ask yourself is – When was the last time you did any of that?If you’re assembling your own sandwiches made on your stove with regularity, then by all means continue to do so – you absolutely do not need this. But if you’re not…then get it. Tossing these things together quickly and getting something really tasty with basically no effort is FAR better than going out for something or not making it at all. You’re not competing with the prospect of making it on the stove – you’re competing against the prospect of not doing it at all. It’s okay. Just buy it even though it’s ridiculous. You’ll really enjoy it.The one thing I really don’t like about it is its lack of a switch – you have to unplug it to turn it off. So pick up a cheap outlet switch as well so you can plug the cooker into that and flip it on/off at the wall instead of plugging/unplugging. They really should add a switch to the unit.

Veggie Sausage Works Too!
This product lives up to the hype. I have to admit I am a bit of an appliance junkie. But as a vegetarian, and someone who has very little time in the morning to eat breakfast, my fast food options are limited to Starbucks and Panera Bread drive thru ($5/sandwich +$5 for a coffee drink I’m always tempted to get) or a donut from the Krispy Kreme drive thru (cheaper but not a very balanced breakfast). So when Amazon suggested this for me, I read the reviews and I was convinced although I was a little hesitant because like I said I am a appliance junkie and often buy useless crap I never end up using again. But this has already paid for itself in a week of breakfast at Starbucks/Panera.I even didn’t entirely read the directions at first and didn’t “season” it with oil and it still was fine to clean. In fact all I needed was a damp paper towel. So far I’ve used it all week without any oil (I probably will start once I get to the store and buy some of the natural version of Pam from TJ’s) and I’ve yet to have to do more than wipe it down.Anyways, I noticed a lack of reviews on vegetarian meats so here is what I’ve done: I’ve used Trader Joe’s extra sourdough english muffins, Morningstar Farms maple flavored frozen veggie sausage, a free-range egg, and a slice of organic mild cheddar cheese. I was worried the frozen veggie sausage wouldn’t cook all the way through since some people complained about that with their frozen Jimmy Dean sausage, however it was perfect for my Morningstar Farms veggie patty straight from the freezer. The only problem was the sausage patty was too thick to put cheese on top without closing all the way. So what I did was break up my slice of cheese into 1/4ths and pile it on top of the raw egg right before I put the top muffin on so the egg cooks with the cheese. I think it comes out really well this way. I cook for the whole 5 minutes and I don’t set the timer until I close the lid. Some people complained about raw egg touching the english muffin, but I think of it like french toast and actually really like it!I have many more options to try and am excited to be no longer limited to only one vegetarian sandwich item on the menu and pay a small fortune to buy it. I just wanted to share a few ideas I had for other vegetarians (often I find many vegetarians aren’t aware of just how many meat substitutes are out there).- Yves Meatless Canadian Bacon – This is really good and so is their pepperoni! In Seattle they sell it at PCC, but I imagine in other cities you might be able to find it at natural foods stores and sometimes I see it at Fred Meyer.- Morningstar Farms Bacon, Sausage Patties, and Sausage Links – I’ve seen these sold in every grocery store- Quorn naked “chikn” filets – this is the only vegetarian chicken I’ve had that actually has the same texture as chicken and tastes just like it. You can also buy their strips as well. Fred Meyer/QFC has the best selection and price but I’ve also seen it in other stores as well such as Whole Foods.- Tofurky deli slices – I love these so much. They taste just like turkey lunch meat. These can be bought almost anywhere, I’ve seen them the cheapest at Trader Joe’s.- Lightlife Veggie Sausage and Bacon – I like how their ground veggie sausage comes in a tube. Most of their products are refrigerated instead of frozen.Anyways, I could go on about the exciting possibilities, not to mention what you could do with tofu and endless different kinds of cheese (Trader Joe’s has a pretty amazing selection!) as well as veggies and herbs. Bottom line: If you are trying to talk yourself out of buying this because you think you don’t need it or its a waste of money, just stop thinking and buy it, you won’t regret it!

Truly impressive and easy to use
I was skeptical, but I really wanted to try my hand at making a breakfast sandwich fit for a clown. The layered nature of the cooking surfaces makes this extremely easy to use, and it makes your sandwich perfect every time. The egg cooker ring with the slide-out bottom is a really clever touch here, allowing you to cook the egg to perfection while toasting the muffin, then sliding out the bottom to allow the egg to “drop” onto the muffin. Great stuff. And the resulting taste was, in my opinion, in the vicinity of 99% the flavor I was going for. And that extra 1% isn’t the sandwich maker’s fault, it’s probably some kind/amount of seasoning I’m using.

Eggs are spot on in this
I don’t know why we waited so long to get one of these – absolutely nailed Sausage McMuffins, and within 5 minutes*! 😀 (*plus warmup time)There’s a little room in the meat compartment to get creative too: Fajita style (+onions and bell peppers), Hawaiian style (+grilled pineapple), Parmigiana style (+marinara and provolone) – just the ones I’ve tried so far. Breakfast is fun now!

Better than fast food
I love this thing. I have only had the egg leak twice and that was after I let the top lid drop on its own instead of gently lowering it and I overloaded it with adding too much cheese with the egg. I have used a variety of muffins, grocery store brand to name brand and I think the grocery store brand comes out better.I spray the top and bottom parts of the muffin that are going to be on the heat, with some avocado oil spray. I then load up the bottom with a slice of deli ham that I’ve torn up. Added cheese [1 slice or sprinkled shredded [don’t over load this area or the next tray won’t come down properly resulting in the egg spill] then lower the next level.Make sure your sliding tray is all the way up on the left, some times it jiggles loose and that will cause egg leakage. I’ve always used scrambled, I tried whole egg but wasn’t my jam. I use jumbo eggs, and I add a little half-half in with it, if you really whip it up, it could make it puff up during the cook. But add the egg, then the muffin and gently shut the top lid.Timer for 5 min and then press down on the top lid while moving the sliding tray to drop the egg onto the bottom half. I use a silicon spatula to push the egg/muffin part down as I lift that portion of the rings. Then again lifting the last ring.Take a paper towel, to rest the muffin on it, the paper towel will absorb the steam, keeping the muffin crispy. I’ve tried bagels but I’ve had them get too toasty on the verge of burnt. I really had to cram the bagel into the maker and then ran into having a problem getting it out.I have also bought some pre cooked sausage crumbles, I warm them up in the micro as directed [30 sec] then add them to the egg, this way they’ll stay put in your sandwich.I’ve done turkey cheese and tomato, ham cheese and egg, ham cheese egg and sausage. Just remember to use the paper towel when you’re removing the sandwich, it will keep your sandwich crispy. I’m going to try small pancakes and see how that turns out.Be VERY careful when using, touching anywhere on the unit other than the tabs that stick out, will be very hot. Also, the ring set can pop out if you are moving it and picking it up it could slide out and land on your hand/arm. I wish we had to lift it all the way up to get it to disengage and come out than it just sit in the bracket. That’s my only complaint about the unit, is how easy that section flops out. But it’s also an easy clean. Just wipe it off.Oh, and don’t spray oil stuff on it either, just spray it on the muffin, the edges of the unit will get a build up that won’t come off.

Easy to use, wonderful results!
I don’t know if you are like us, but we have a bunch of kitchen gadgets we have bought over the years. They are all eagerly tried, but most are put away and rarely used again. The Hamilton Beach breakfast sandwich maker is a happy exception!Every claim you see in the product promotion is actually true. It’s really easy to use and clean. More importantly, the results are simply terrific! English muffins are the easiest bread to use, but medium size bagels, large biscuits and normal size croissants work too. Here are a few tips that I can offer. I like to make frozen biscuits ahead of time and keep them in the fridge for a day or two. Buy the large frozen biscuits. The instructions suggest using small croissants, but you can use the regular size croissants with terrific results. Make sure you slice the croissant so that the top side is pretty thin so that the top doesn’t burn. I can tell you that a croissant, sausage patty, egg and cheddar sandwich is amazing! The illustrations show an unbeaten egg dropped into the machine. Personally, I choose to beat the egg first. I like the results better. Also, I buy precooked sausage patties that I brown while the machine heats up. Canadian bacon or veggie sausage and veggie ham work well too. Some of these ingredients require some initial preparation, but the results are absolutely worth it.I should comment on the excellent design. The bulk of the machine is easily cleaned and comes apart in a second. You can clean it and reassemble literally in a minute. It heats up quickly and cooks fast. I usually cook my sandwich in four minutes. The instructions suggest coating the egg tray with cooking spray. That’s a good idea. Finally, I’ll just say that over the last two months, we’ve been using this product several days a week. All signs point to continued use for a long time. This was the best $25 I’ve spent in a long time!

Now I look for an excuse to have a breakfast sandwich at any time of day
It has one job, and it’s so good at it. I love breakfast sandwiches, but can you imagine buying them all the time? In this economy??? So when I was targeted by an ad for this on Amazon I felt so seen. It really is so good and so convenient as all the reviews say it is. It heats up quickly, it makes the sandwich perfectly in 5 minutes every time, and it’s super easy to clean. I cook my bacon in the microwave and then use the bacon grease to coat the sandwich maker and it comes out deliciously. It’s singlehandedly increased the chances I eat a proper lunch when I work from home. Easy for a quick snack, too! Now I just need to find a place that sells 4″ mini-croissants and I’ll be set. English muffins are the perfect size, but don’t quite have the same substance I like.

Hey! A gadget WORKED!
Well… i have looked at this thing for a year. Used to be a shop near where I worked, that made what I called an ‘egg-a-muff’, which was like the McDonalds dish, only MUCH better… had one a few times a week. Tried making it at home, and while it was pretty darn good! It also was a bit of a process. Cook the eggs, and make them the right size for an english muffin, toast the muffins, made sure the cheese melted on top correctly… assemble.I DON’T do single use appliances, basically.. except yanno, the toaster oven, the microwave, and I have a kitchenaid.. and cuisinart food processor. About it. I don’t like counter space taken up by crap I rarely use, and I don’t like having to haul something out and back to cupboards. But this thing is small! Doesn’t take much space, and, is so small and light that if I end up needing to put it somewhere, no probs hauling it back and forth.Anyway! I watched a couple videos, read the instructions… and today, made two perfect and delicious egg-a-muffs! I am in LOVE. So freaking easy, so easy to clean…I mean, I started out loving this kind of little sandwich, so, didn’t need to be talked into trying it.And. It is MUCH cheaper to make my own, it is MUCH easier to make my own with this, rather than with a pan, a toaster, and shuffling it about to make it.You put the stuff in! And bam! 4 or 5 minutes later, you take it out! And it is GOOD.If you like egg-a-muffs…I had no leaks, as some have mentioned, I was careful to set an alarm for 4.5 minutes, so not overcooked. yes, the bits that hold the muffins and eggs, gets REALLY hot, so, be careful. After done, I unplug, let cool, and wash gently.I just really like this darn thing. It actually works! It really saves time, and cleans easy, and makes an egg-a-muff that is really good! I’ll update this is anything goes wrong, but so far.. easy to use. I am surprised and pleased. Well, REALLY pleased, as I seldom take a chance with some random sandwich maker thingie. But.. I really missed my egg-a-muffs. Not any more!

Great little appliance.
This Hamilton beach breakfast sandwich maker is a bargain. The cost of an EggMacmuffin here in California has gotten ridiculous. This makes the sandwich for a fraction of the cost. Very easy to use, easy to clean and due to it size, very easy to store. I will probably get another for overnight guests, or buy the double maker.

No Fuss – No Muss – No Mess! Perfect!
This is the perfect ‘no fuss, no muss’ 5-minute breakfast maker! We plugged it in, waited for the ‘Ready’ light to come on (3-5 minutes), popped in our ingredients and in minutes had the perfect breakfast sandwich! I used Orowheat English Muffins, a vegetarian sausage patty, shredded cheese and an egg. Didn’t experience one issue that others have had. We looked at the pictures on how to place the items, popped them in and voila! Yummy hot breakfast! BTW..I’ve forgotten to ‘pop the yolk’ twice now and it still cooked through and no mess =0) It’s important to look at the pics because if you add cheese but nothing on top of it (like my veg sausage patty), the cheese may stick to the plate above it. If you don’t want to use a ‘meat’, then I would recommend putting the cheese on top of the egg and the top muffin over it.I noticed in the ‘How To’ photo that they used shredded cheese and not sliced which is why I used that type & I pre-cooked my patty since it came from the freezer (isn’t that just common sense?!). Remember to use a non-stick spray for ez clean-up! After your done, just pop out the plates, wash & pop them back in…easy-peasy! This little baby should have 5-stars across the board! This was a Christmas gift for my mom who gets up early and enjoys a quick hot breakfast. She loves this little thing & no more frozen breakfast sandwiches hogging space in the freezer!Kids could easily use this (what age is at the parents discretion) & it would be a great gift for the grandparents too! It’s so easy to use! Just be sure to tell them to only touch the handles (the plates get HOT! HOT! HOT!) and use a spatula to remove the sandwich from the hot plate. This goes for EVERYONE! And..very important…be sure to unplug it after use (there is no ‘on & off’ button!) 😉 The second best thing about this machine, it’s small. So if you don’t like cluttered countertops it nicely tucks away in a cabinet/pantry.Paid around $24 for it – don’t pay more than $25 with free shipping. If prices jump again (which they did after I bought it), go to your local wally world! =0)PS: Mine came in ez packaging. If you Google Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker you’ll find the manufacturer’s photos on how to layer your items (click on Images at top of screen). In the event you don’t want to do that…Plug in and wait for the Ready light (Green). When it’s ready, open it up, spray with non-stick cooking spray (they don’t show that), and with the bottom ring down, put your bottom muffin in, add shredded cheese & veg/’meat’, lower the next plate and place your egg and top with the other muffin slice, close the top and let it work it’s magic. When the green light goes off…it’s ready! Lift up from the bottom handle to expose the entire sandwich. Remember, it’s going to be screaming hot when you add your goodies to it so be careful & be sure to use a spatula to remove it!!!

This thing actually works!
I was a little hesitant in buying this sandwich maker as I thought it would just be another cheap kitchen gadget but it actually works great! I can make about two sandwiches in about 10 minutes (after preheating). While making my coffee, I turn this on and let it preheat, I place a Thomas English muffin and a piece of brown sugar ham with cheese. I then place the egg and the other half of the Thomas English Muffin. I have not found a brand of bagels that fit inside the circular ring.

It’s great.
I have really enjoyed several vegetarian breakfast sandwiches, but I guess they sell poorly because at least 3 have disappeared. This device allows me to make my own, more inexpensively, and the result tastes better. All you need is some pam spray, an english muffin, an egg, a flat vegetarian sausage or burger patty, and perhaps a slice of cheese. stack these in, close it, plug it in and set timer for 4.5-5 minutes. Then use an oven mitt to open the device and a spatula to slide out the sandwich. I haven’t made a bad one yet!

LOVE! ❤️
During the first use, the egg leaked, but it didn’t take long to figure out the egg needs to cook for a minite or two (with the top down) before adding the muffin on top of it. It’s been perfection every time since! I put the muffin half in the bottom ring, top with cheddar cheese and precooked meat. Then add the egg in the upper ring and let it cook for a minute or two. Finally, top the egg with the other muffin half and cook for another one to two minutes. Absolutely love this sandwich maker!

Wonderful sandwiches
This appliance does a fantastic job. The heat is perfect and the taste is excellent. However, there’s a learning curve to moving the separation plates. It takes a little practice not to make a mess, but maybe that’s just me. Knowing what I know about the product, I would definitely buy it again.

I absolutely love this sandwich maker. It works best with English muffins, not so well with home made biscuits. I wanted to try with bagels, but it’s hard to find bagels small enough to fit. That’s ok, I am completely OK with English muffins. One morning I’ll add my own bacon, cheese, then egg. Another morning I’ll add ham or a sausage patty, then cheese & an egg. Add ingredients, set a timer for 5 mins, and there you got a great breakfast sandwich, hot & ready to eat. If I had a complaint, it would be that I can’t do two at once. Did I mention I love this thing? Don’t overthink it…buy yourself one and see for yourself! Simple to use, easy to clean, and I’ll never visit McDonalds again. The only thing that kept me going there was their Egg McMuffins. Now I make my own, and I think they’re better anyway…and definitely cost less!

Fantastic sandwich maker! My husband’s favorite Christmas gift!
Wow! This thing is awesome! This was my husband’s favorite Christmas gift. I had seen it on an ad somewhere and thought it was probably a hunk of junk, but decided to look on amazon for reviews just to see. To my pleasant surprise, it looked like it just might be a good product, so I bought it! All the good reviews are true. This thing is quick, easy, and makes the most delicious, perfectly cooked, soft, satisfying egg sandwiches. My husband can’t stop talking about how good the sandwiches are. We love how the egg is perfectly cooked, it is piping hot right down to the center of the sandwich, the cheese is perfectly melted, and the muffin is cooked, but still soft. Here are a few tips we discovered:Don’t spray the nonstick cooking spray until the thing is totally heated and ready to go, AND YOU have all your ingredients ready to go. This thing is FAST, and if you are all ready, it goes very smoothly. At the last minute, spray on the cooking spray on both the top and bottom levels, and quickly assemble your ingredients. Place the bottom part of the english muffin on the bottom part and lay on the cheese (but don’t leave the cheese hanging over the edge too much), and add the canadian bacon (Trader Joe’s Canadian Bacon is great). Then close the top part and crack the egg right into it and put the top part of the english muffin right on top of the egg and close the lid (but don’t press down on the lid. It will be slightly raised and that’s ok). Also: You will need to set the timer on your stove because there is no timer on the sandwich maker. It says to let it cook for 4-5 minutes. At first, 4 minutes was perfect, but now it seems that even 3.5 minutes is even better, so you may want to play around with how long to let it cook so that it is right for you. I wouldn’t go over 4 minutes, though, as it will get overcooked.Another tip: Thomas’ English Muffins are TOO big, so I’m guessing bagels will be, too. They fill it out too much, so the top ends up getting slightly overcooked. The perfect sized English muffin is Trader Joes’ kind, or the kind you find in a cylinder shaped bag at the grocery store. They are smaller and better suited for this machine and it keeps the top from overcooking. It is still perfectly soft. When the timer rings, slide the lever that starts on the right all the way over to the left. The top part of the sandwich falls on the bottom part. Lift the handle up and there is your sandwich! Scrape it off with a wooden or plastic utensil only onto a plate. Be careful not to burn your fingers! It is piping hot! This will be awesome for when we are in a rush getting ready for work, but we still want and need a satisfying breakfast. There are several recipes in the book, too, for variety. We found that Tillamook Muenster cheese melts beautifully and is super tasty. My parents were just here for the holiday and now my dad wants one of these things! He might go for the double maker!Enjoy!

Works well
This works extremely well. Before purchasing, I read a review that has been constantly updated from 2013 and it has help tremendously. In order to stop the egg from leaking is the let it completely pre-heat then wait a little longer, it creates a good seal. I love it and will use it every morning when I have breakfast.

Better than McDs!!
I can see why so many people love this little cooker!. It actually makes a breakfast sandwich easily and because you can buy the ingredients in bulk , very cheaply. It’s also VERY easy to clean. just plug it in , wait for the light to turn green , add your food and five minutes later you have a breakfast sandwich! Five stars from me.

Works great!
I was expecting a bit of trial and error but it made a perfect breakfast sandwich on the first try! I read and followed the instructions and it was so easy. Cleanup was also a breeze. Nothing stuck. Nothing leaked. Excellent little sandwich maker!

Awesome time saver
Works perfectly everytime. The “egg leakage” negative reviews are 100% user error. Let the device preheat while *closed*. After preheat, get your other ingredients in there quickly, make sure egg tray is properly aligned and then pour the egg in slowly. We even use egg substitute from a carton, which is real runny and don’t have a leakage issue.

I always wanted to try one of these, and now with the egg muffin prices going up at, you know where, I decided to finally try it. It works, and it tastes just like the fast food one for A Lot less! Saves gas too because I don’t have to drive to pick up one!

I love this thing!
I almost solely eat sandwiches of some kind for breakfast. So when I found out that this existed I bought it immediately. It is super easy to clean and just the right size. Super cute color too Coral has always been one of my favorites. It’s really sturdy I actually dropped it on the floor yesterday and it didn’t even break. Lol

Works extremely well and not just for breakfast!
When I first saw this I was skeptical that it would work without making a mess to clean up afterward. I’ve bought many of these little gadgets in the past and usually the clean up is never as easy as it is shown on TV or the product doesn’t quite come out the same. This one works great!!I was eager to check it out when I first received it from UPS. I didn’t have any english muffins and just had some thin lite bread in the fridge so just used that. Seasoned it first (and I highly recommend doing this every time you use it) with some vegetable oil after I washed it like recommended. I heated it up, squeezed the first piece of bread in so it fit in and didn’t leave any gapes, added my cheese and bacon, then an extra large egg (it’s what I had) and then gently shaped the top piece of bread to fit too without squeezing out the egg. Came out great! Then my daughter came over and I remembered I had some frozen pancakes in the freezer and offered to make her a sandwich and she loved it. My “McGriddle” is made with two small blueberry pancakes (store bought that come in a big bag). I put the first one in, put a small bit of maple syrup to coat it, add some cheese and the sausage or bacon (have done both), then the egg and the top pancake that I also put a thin layer of maple syrup as well. Those come out tasting so good!I’ve made them with English muffins, bread and pancakes. I believe because I season it with the vegetable oil each time after I’ve cleaned it and it’s dried that when I go to use it nothing sticks at all. I don’t have the white residue from the egg that one of videos showed except once and that was when I made another sandwich right after the first one. It wasn’t a big deal, still cleaned up easily.I also tried to make a Reuben style sandwich as well. I used Weight Watcher’s rye bread that I put in and squeezed into the bottom to fit, a little mustard, Swiss cheese, pastrami and sauerkraut and the top piece of bread also molded to fit. I had the “egg” tray slid out when I tried this and the top bread didn’t brown because it wasn’t up high enough but it was warm and crispy. I may try to arrange the ingredients a bit differently next time and leave the “egg tray” in this time and put the meat on top of that so it gets a bit hotter because it was just warm before and the bread should toast nicely. Bottom line is, you could make a variety of hot sandwiches in this and doesn’t necessarily have to be for breakfast. One thing I did notice and I think others had mentioned was the top and bottom having a sticky residue feeling to them after using. I ran into this too and as it tells you not to use a scrubbing pad on it it is hard to get rid of. I do have non scratch type scrubbers for my smooth top stove and I gently tried using that. Still found it was sticky. One of the things that I think helps tremendously is that after your sandwich is done leave it on and closed while you eat and then wet a dish cloth and wipe the top and bottom with that being careful not to burn yourself and that helps remove that residue. I also just rinse and repeat and wipe down the rest of the the cooking surfaces as well.A couple of other tips, if you want to try making a sandwich and your bread is too big and you don’t want to deal with trying to squeeze it in just use the one of the circles to “cut” the bread like a cookie or biscuit cutter and it will fit perfectly. The pancakes I use are varied in shape and sometimes too big too fit and are frozen so trying to use the cookie cutter idea isn’t plausible so in that case I just trim them around the edges a bit with some kitchen scissors I have. Also, the sausage I buy that is round is rather small and we found the first couple of sandwiches would slide around so, after I microwaved it to thaw, I mashed it down a little bit to spread it out to fit better and give you more sausage per bite (and I do recommend thawing out any frozen meat first in the microwave). We also like to scramble up the egg sometimes before we pour it in and that works out well too, haven’t tried this yet but for a western style sandwich you could scramble up the egg, pour it in and throw in a little bit of chopped up peppers and onion.Things I haven’t tried but think would be good for hot sandwiches are Italian bread with butter spread on it and garlic powder sprinkled on top of that with the buttered side facing the heating sides and maybe some mozzerella and mashed meatballs or sloppy joe mixture on the inside, the reuben style I already mentioned, maybe a hamburger bun with a thawed chicken patty and your choice of cheese. Basically, just be creative and don’t just limit your ideas to breakfast.Edited on 1-18-2014Still enjoying my sandwich maker very much. One thing I’d like to suggest and it worked well for us is that if you are making your own biscuits or buying a can of pillsbury grand biscuits you can make up a batch of sandwiches or cook for a crowd easily. While the biscuits are baking in the oven I cook up a couple of eggs at a time in the sandwich maker. I crack an egg in a bowl, scramble it up a bit, pour one egg in the bottom slot, quickly scramble up another and pour it into the “egg” slot and cook for about three minutes. I repeat this process while the biscuits are baking and then when they are done I put my sandwiches together reserving the last two hottest eggs for my husband and I to have a hot sandwich. I get everything ready ahead of time, precooked bacon and the cheese out and just do it like a quick assembly line. The rest of the sandwiches I individually wrap in wax paper and have some breakfast sandwiches ready to throw in the microwave or for my husband to take a couple to work with him. I like that the sandwich maker makes perfectly round little egg patties. Think you could cook up a dozen eggs like this and freeze them too to have a quick and handy, throw in the microwave, pre-cooked egg whether you wanted it in a sandwich or just to throw on a plate with some bacon or sausage.

I am so here for this.
I used a Tyson chicken patty, I would use sausage or bacon for breakfast but I would cook the bacon first. I did put my chicken patty in the air fryer first as this was my first time using it. It does get hot! Some people put the egg in there and then put the top on a wet egg. I did not do that. I let the egg cook a little and then added the top. I also put some non stick on where the egg goes.So it would not stick to the bottom but they say you only have to do at once. It came out good I am pleased.

A must buy to help budget
Well worth the purchase. Easy and clear instructions on how to use as well as post-use cleaning. I do not want to keep paying places that used to charge $3-4 for a breakfast sandwich and it’s now about $7-8. Buying this helps with budgeting as well as controlling what exactly you’re eating per ingredient. It takes only about five to six minutes, I use the English muffin brand Thomas’s, Pam Olive oil non-stick cooking spray, and a medium egg (better to use small-medium egg to not deal with spillage as well as having the circumference of the egg being bigger than the whole sandwich) I add a little bit of seasoning and light salt and cover the whole thing and when done, I use a wet sponge to wipe and clean the whole thing like new. I highly recommend and I’m not even being paid or sponsored by Hamilton Beach.

Perfect little breakfast sandwich maker
I make a breakfast sandwich every morning with this. I leave the top of the English muffin off until the egg has solidified. That takes 3 minutes. Then I put the top part of the muffin in. Cook another 1 minute. Then I take it all off and separate the top of the muffin from the egg and let it cool for a minute. Then put the cheese on and let it melt a bit. Then put the top on and it’s ready. The alternative is to just throw the cheese in ahead of time but beware that American cheese will get completely wrecked in that process. If you want it fully melted and incorporated into the bread then that’s fine. For me it just nukes the cheese way too hard.I put a little bit of Pam spray in it when I cook and wipe it down with a paper towel after so it doesn’t make a little grease pit under it. All told it’s like 1min at most of my time. It’s 4 minutes of wall clock time plus a little cooling time but I do that as I’m getting a drink and setting everything down to eat.The only downside I’ve run into is I find it impractical to use anything other than an English muffin in it. I tried a bagel but you have to really jam it in there.

Danged clever gadget!
I’m gadget-crazy and bought this on a whim, and I’m pretty impressed. I read Nick’s review several times and took all of his advice. Suggest all new owners do this. My sandwich came out perfect the very first time! I used Pam spray, English muffins, ham, cheese, and an egg. Heated it up a little past the recommended time. Set a timer for five minutes. Used tongs to lift up the compartments and whaddya know! A perfect, cute little sandwich! I pulled it out with a plastic spatula and set it on a tiny cookie rack to cool so the bottom wouldn’t get soggy. Nothing leaked, nothing stuck. Very compact and tidy. Let the contraption cool, then rinse and wipe. The booklet that came with the thing suggested using frozen pancakes from the supermarket as the “bread.” I bought some frozen waffles instead and plan to try them tomorrow–I’ll have to trim them a little as their diameter is slightly larger than the cooking compartment.I’m thinking waffles, bacon or ham, thinly sliced apple, cheese, and an egg (or not). Or kaiser roll, corned beef, swiss cheese, and some sauerkraut for an nice Reuben. Or just cheese, apple, and onion, on a bagel.UPDATE- Dec 19, 2013.I’M SO FREAKING CLEVER!!I made my sandwich this morning using frozen waffles. Hehe. The waffles were a l-e-e-e-e-t-l-e bit too big to fit in the compartments, so I trimmed the edge with a pair of scissors. Then (this is the really good part!) I took the cut-off edge and lined the sides of the egg compartment, so when I broke the egg in there, the rim of waffle material contained it. SO CLEVER! (Feel free to notify the Nobel Prize Committee.) I put waffle on the bottom, a slice of cheese, a thin piece of ham folded over a schmear of apricot jam (those who don’t like to mix their sweets and their savories can just gag and move on), then the egg in its compartment lined with waffle material, topped with the second waffle. Five minutes cooked everything nicely. I removed the sandwich and put it on a small rack over a paper plate to cool off. By the time I finished my morning tasks, it was ready to eat.If precise timing is of the essence, suggest you set your timer for 4:30, to give yourself 30 seconds to run from the far corners of the house to rescue your sandwich. Five minutes was the outside limit to keep from over-browning the waffle. With an English muffin, it doesn’t matter so much as they are made of sturdier stuff.

Fun!
This little thing is nice and fun! Complaints about egg leaking are legit, however, if you slowly add the egg and give it time to cook slightly to seal the cracks, it doesnt leak.

Works Well – Perfect While Multi-Tasking
This Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker works well. My wife uses it to make her breakfast sandwich typically while multitasking – making lunches, feeding animals, etc. It is easy to get set-up, put in the sandwich ingredients, and set a timer. 5 minutes later – breakfast sandwich is ready!English muffins work really well in it. Any meat like sausage or bacon must be already cooked. The egg stays in the ring fine and she has no issues with the egg dripping or not sliding out of the ring. She does wipe the sandwich maker with cooking spray before each use. The sandwich maker is really easy to clean too. Extremely convenient – a definite time saver!

McDonalds wonders why I don’t come in any more.
In five minutes you can really beef up your breakfast. I have also tried blueberry and cinnamon-raisin English muffins, swear by using Swiss cheese, and when ham isn’t available in the right shape am using smoked turkey. I don’t follow the directions and just circle the egg half with a butter knife when ready and raise the two halves with a butter knife. Now I have every color but the new light red I think. They also make great gifts.

It works just like I wanted it to
I bought this as a gift for my dad. He told me that he makes egg sandwiches on english muffins all the time but he was using a regular pan. I asked him how he likes this product and he says he loves it and wants to buy another for his camping trailer. He cooks two sandwiches with it and says that by the time the 2nd sandwich is done, the first one has cooled down enough to eat it. Thinking about getting one for myself.

Part Novelty but functions pretty well
I bought this with the intention of saving 20-25 dollars a week on breakfast sandwich’s on my way to work. Tough times these days with inflation through the roof. At current costs with Eggs + an English muffin, you can make an egg sandwich for roughly .83 cents as opposed to 4.50-5.00. That’s a big savings. So I watched a ton of YouTube videos on this device until it began sparking an interest. This device is essentially a clam shell grill. Yes, I could cook an egg, toast a muffin on my own and I am sure it would work fine. The machine on the other hand gives you a rounded egg suitable for a sandwich and overall heats the entire thing with a light toasting on the upper and lower Muffin. I found after using it, I made over 6 sandwiches over the weekend and find it’s relatively easy. While the unit is powered on, you can use the Pre Heat time to get the prep work done. Spray, Egg, Muffin split etc. Put the items in and (4 minutes seems to be the sweet spot for me) for the cooking time.Just an FYI, Fold the cheese in four corners and lie on the bottom Muffin for the best results. Also season the egg after you crack and break the yolk before the top muffin is put on and do not open to check on the cooking in progress. Do not use more than one egg in the upper chamber, it will leak as it expands and cooks. Also, I find that cutting the muffin with a knife rather than pulling apart will give you a better equal half than the top usually being less dense when pulled apart. Have faith that 4 minutes is all you need. When cleaning up, just use a damp sponge and wipe while cooling down. Less chance of any stickiness for the next cooking cycle. You really do not have to hand wash this if you neat with the cheese. A wipe down is fine, then just damp sponge it clean to avoid scratching the surfaces. The egg meshes to the top of the muffin and makes for a pleasing first bite experience. It’s very different from a traditional Egg McMuffin and much fresher.I plan to make some changes, add some spinach and veggies, but overall I am pleased and recommend this device. It’s part novelty, but very functional and useful.

Create your own breakfast creations!
There’s something universally comforting about a well-crafted breakfast sandwich. Whether you’re grabbing one on the go or savoring it at a leisurely pace on a weekend morning, a good breakfast sandwich can set the tone for your entire day. Recently, I had the pleasure of creating my own custom breakfast sandwich by using this little gadget , and it was an experience worth sharing.Note: the round thin sandwich bread I use is slightly bigger than the machine so I lift the bottom plate and just place the Arnolds thin under. It leaves a small indent around the border (but that’s fine with me). I then do a layer of cheese, a sausage patty and an egg. I throw some seasoning, rosemary and green onions on my egg. I don’t put a top bread on as I am watching my carb intake. I’m so happy with this purchase. I can make my own breakfast creations.

Love it
My sons thought I was crazy when I ordered it. But we all love it and sre officially out of eggs and muffins. It is a quick way to make a snack. I strongly recommend that you let it warm up completely before you add the ingredients. When it turns off, check the muffin because you may want to let it sit for another minute if you want the muffins really toasted. Also, my yolk broke last time, but it was actually better.

This little unit is easy to use and takes me about 5 minutes to make a tasty breakfast sandwich. A little hard to clean near the hinge, but not a big deal. pleasantly surprised
honestly, I did not have high hopes for this little gadget as Hamilton-Beach can be hit or miss as a brand in my experience. I am also not big on buying single-use appliances, but I have struggled to find a high-protein something (anything) that I enjoy eating for breakfast and breakfast sandwiches are really the only thing I can tolerate in the AM. However, making them everyday and getting a bunch of stuff dirty wasn’t going to fly and prepping ahead of time took a big chunk of my weekend (and also microwave reheated sammies are not completely awesome). So, you can guess how well my breakfast sandwich plan was going… until I came across this little guy. I thought it was worth a try – it doesn’t take up much space in my minuscule kitchen and (wonder of wonders) it does exactly what it says it does. and depending on your recipe of choice, these come out really, really well. Everything gets heated, the eggs actually get done and the sandwich comes out really hot and nice. I’m way more impressed than I thought I’d be and I actually look forward to making breakfast now since it’s so easy and the result is so tasty. Super easy to clean, too. basically, I just wipe it down each day and then give it a bit of a wash (the removable parts) about once a week. Definitely read the instructions – especially the advice on making sure the egg doesn’t leak – and you’ll be pleased with it, too. Money well spent for my part – I hope it lasts a while, but we’ll see on that one.
